This is not a commercial, but I really want people to know about this great resource -- by the way free one -- because if it helped me it can help you as well. The website is run by an enthusiast who encountered the same problem years ago, and this makes you feel like you are talking to a friend who is just trying to help you.

"Just Vocabulary is the best tool that I've ever used to improve my vocabulary. I started listening to the show about 2 months ago, when I decided to my GRE exam. I tried different methods of studying and i can tell that it's the most effective way of learning new words for me.
I listen to the show everyday when I'm driving to work or whenever I get a chance, and I am amazed by how the simple but effective show improved my listening and vocabulary.

It's very practical, and there were quite some words I wasn't familiar with.
It really helps building my vocabulary. I also gave the web address to my English teacher, and he was pleased to finally see a site where more difficult vocabulary is being presented. Vocabulary on most sites seem to be too easy for my proficiency level.

"I really appreciate having such a great (and free!) resource available to me as I try to expand my vocabulary. I am a native english speaker, so I am already familiar with many of the words. However, I have still added many new words to my repertoire and have become more comfortable with others because their nuances have been elucidated. Also, it is very helpful to hear the clear pronunciations of certain words that I have mostly encountered in written form. Therefore, some words that I visually recognize are becoming part of my working vocabulary. I am currently studying for the GRE, so the synonym/antonyms are very helpful! In addition, the sample sentences really help the words to stick. Overall it is a great tool and the best vocabulary podcast that I have unearthed so far!"
